You will begin the draft that is rough of last essay this week. In the LearningStudio Module, it is called the Argumentative Essay. But be warned, it is one of many argumentative-style essays you have written. When you try to persuade someone, you are doing writing that is argumentative and you’ve been doing that here for a while.

I shall admit I’m not partial to the direction or lack thereof that you’re given for writing this essay in this module. But I also would you like to stress that you will do have to read all assigned pages when you look at the book plus the online module despite my feelings towards this assignment. What I ‘m going to do, however, is add information here at our LibGu > i shall be referring to your Essay that is argumentative as “Proposing an answer Essay.”

The goal of the “Proposing a Solution essay that is to persuade, but it is an unique style of argumentative essay. It involves identifying a problem, discussing several possible answers to it, and arguing that certain solution is better than others. There are lots of possible topics for this essay, and you may have freedom that is considerable selecting your own topic; however, there are many topics you MIGHT NOT come up with: euthanasia, abortion, capital punishment, gun control, parking, legalization of pot or other illegal drugs, steroids, and changing regarding the voting age. If you prefer, your topic can be related to all of your other topics, however it will not necessarily need to be the very same topic you wrote about. Y

· Identifying the issue. At the beginning of your essay, you will have to identify the problem into consideration. This may require describing, defining and/or limiting the problem for background support. For instance, if starvation may be the problem, you might want to give attention to famine in developing countries, on hunger within the U.S., or simply much more narrowly, on malnourishment among U.S. children. In this an element of the essay, it might probably also be essential to establish the difficulty, to argue so it really exists and that it’s really an issue. Some readers, for instance, might not think that technology is expanding very rapidly or, if they do, maybe they do not consider it a challenge. So before discussing solutions, you may have to argue that the nagging issue is both real and worthy of your attention.

· Discussing possible solutions. Once the problem happens to be identified, you will look to a discussion of possible approaches to the difficulty. You need to discuss at the very least three solutions that are alternative and each should always be plausible (believable) and feasible (workable). Far-fetched or oversimplified solutions are not good in this essay. Proposing for us is far-fetched because it’s not economically possible and therefore not believable that we solve the problem of bad food in the SLU commons by hiring the finest chefs in France to cook. Similarly, suggesting that execution function as the penalty for all overdue books during the library is just too simple given our current value system and not workable. On the other hand, suggesting that the commons implement a quality survey to enhance the cafeteria food or that students with overdue fines in the library cannot receive their grades https://eliteessaywriters.com/write-my-paper until those fines are paid could be types of plausible, feasible solutions. (My note: i prefer the meals within the cafeteria so maybe that topic is off limits.)

· Arguing that one solution is preferable to others. Your discussion of possible solutions will consist of examining the advantages and cons of each and, by the end associated with the essay, it must be clear that one option would be better than all of the others. Such as the positioning paper, it is crucial which you not just assert your arguments that are own but additionally present and respond to counterarguments. After you have asserted that this one solution is the most effective, the majority of your paper may be including reasoned explanations why it’s the best, again incorporating research into this section whenever possible.

· Including Counterarguments. because of the fact that every the solutions you discuss when you look at the essay will likely to be plausible and feasible, it is unlikely that you’ll be in a position to utterly and entirely refute all of them. In reality, you are lured to claim that most of the solutions should once be used at. Don’t repeat this. In order to pass this essay, your thesis must state that, despite the fact that all of the solutions might be helpful, one option would be far better compared to the others. However, this raises the question of what constitutes “better”? There are a number of criteria. Perhaps one solution would solve the nagging problem more thoroughly, more quickly, less expensively, or with less risk. But don’t concern yourself with these kinds of criteria at this time; they’ll develop as the writing is continued by us process.
